Newcastle Airport welcomes Norwegian’s inaugural flight to Copenhagen

Norwegian has launched flights from Newcastle Airport to Copenhagen.
The inaugural flight took off on Friday, 2 May, with flights operating twice a week, every Friday and Monday.
The new route is the only regular, direct service to Copenhagen from the North East of England and Yorkshire regions and marked the arrival of Norwegian as a new airline partner at Newcastle Airport.
With convenient flight times and a short duration of under two hours, the new service provides passengers with the perfect opportunity to experience Copenhagen over a long weekend or week-long trip, as well as increasing opportunities for Danish tourists to visit Newcastle and the North East of England region.
The launch comes in response to surging demand as Denmark welcomed a record number of visitors from the UK in 2024, with more than 1.1 million overnight stays – an increase of 17% compared to 2023.
To celebrate the new route, passengers were surprised with drinks, Danish pastries, Copenhagen city guides and a prize giveaway at check-in and in the boarding gate.
Chris Ion, Head of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Norwegian and celebrate the launch of this exciting new route to Copenhagen.
“With a record number of British travellers visiting Denmark, this new service offers even more choice for passengers to experience everything this amazing country has the offer this summer.”
Flights are now available to book at www.norwegian.com or as part of a city break package through your local travel agent.
