Changes to the car parks at BSCA: Opening of the new Express Car Park on Monday 4 September 2017

Charleroi, 31 August 2017 – On Monday 4 September 2017, the new Express Car Park at Brussels South Charleroi Airport will be opened to the public. With direct access via a recently build ramp, the car park is located on the roof of the P1 car park. Anybody dropping off or picking up passengers will be able to take the access road to the Express car park by following the red signs guiding the driver from the entrance to the airport site to the car park. The minimum price for the Express Car Park is €2 for the first 30 minutes. This means that Brussels South Charleroi Airport now has five car parks to meet the needs of passengers and their companions.

The work that began on the access ramp to the Express Car Park last April has now finished, which means that it will be up and running on Monday 4 September 2017. This ramp offers direct access to the drop-off area on the roof of the covered P1 car park, not far from the preliminary security area. The minimum price for the Express Car Park is €2 for the first 30 minutes. The Express Car Park has 659 parking spaces.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport therefore now has 7,537 spaces, divided between the airport’s five official car parks.

Full details of the prices for the car parks and information about how to book a space at Brussels South Charleroi Airport are available on the airport’s website - http://www.charleroi-airport.com/en/acces/parkings/index.html

The first 15 minutes at the P2 car park will still be available free of charge for dropping off or picking up passengers.

Spaces for people with disabilities are located on all levels of the P1 car park, as well as in the Express Car Park, in the area closest to the terminal.

Jean-Jacques CLOQUET, CEO of Brussels South Charleroi Airport, explains: “We are now faced with a new reality. The attacks in Brussels on 22 March 2016 were the reason for the permanent closure of the Express Car Park. After various studies and a proactive approach by the different departments at BSCA, we came to the conclusion that the roof of the P1 car park was the best option for the location of the new Express Car Park. Within the space of around four months, a ramp with direct access to the roof of P1 has been built, which means we can reopen a passenger drop-off and pick-up area. With these changes, our goal is to increase the number of parking spaces we can offer, whilst also facilitating access to the airport for people who want to come to drop off or pick up passengers.
