Growth at Brussels South Charleroi Airport in October 2017: 690,471 passengers recorded

Charleroi, 14 November 2017 – Brussels South Charleroi Airport ended October 2017 with a 6% rise in passenger traffic. 690,471 people travelled through BSCA, compared with 652,997 in October 2016. The average occupancy rate also rose by 1%, bringing it up to almost 90%.

October 2017 is therefore sticking to the trend for this year, with a rise in the number of passengers welcomed to Brussels South Charleroi Airport. This increase is in no small part connected to the development of aviation activities at BSCA which, thanks to its diversification strategy, is continuing to enhance the services it offers travellers.

At this point in the year, the airport’s results are flying high compared with 2016. 6,597,562 passengers were recorded, so an increase of 6% compared to the January-October period in 2016, during which 6,233,492 travellers passed through Brussels South Charleroi Airport.

Spain is the most popular country for flights to and from Brussels South Charleroi Airport. It is followed by Italy, France, Morocco and Romania. The Mediterranean region and Central and Eastern European countries remain popular from Brussels South Charleroi, which boasts a range of some 180 available destinations.

Jean-Jacques CLOQUET, CEO of Brussels South Charleroi Airport, elaborates: “The figures are encouraging. As we prepare to finish off the 2017 chapter of our airport’s story, we are continuing to see a rise in passenger numbers. Despite recent difficulties, we are continuing to work hard to grow our business, and the results of this work speak for themselves. This consolidates our efforts to diversify in order to offer our customers even more options.
