A good March for Brussels South Charleroi Airport: An 8% increase in the number of passengers recorded

Charleroi, 9 April 2018 – A positive end to March for Brussels South Charleroi Airport. 584,880 travellers crossed the tarmac at BSCA, so an increase of 8% compared to March 2017. In the same period last year, 541,625 passengers were recorded. Occupancy rates for March 2018 were around 87%, representing a 3% increase compared to 2017.

As the year goes on, the trend in terms of most popular destinations continues. In March 2018, as for the first quarter, Italy was the most popular country for flights to and from Brussels South Charleroi Airport. It was followed by Spain, France and Morocco. Romania made up the last of the top 5 most popular countries.

 

The positive results for March 2018 are in line with the general progress being made by Brussels South Charleroi Airport. During the first quarter, 1,624,206 people chose Charleroi, compared with 1,523,649 in 2017; a healthy 7% increase, demonstrating the faith passengers have in BSCA.

The airlines that land on and take off from our tarmac also confirm their confidence in us by expanding their activities. Ryanair has launched a route to Malta (starting on 25 March 2018) and Air Corsica has started up again with flights to Ajaccio and Bastia on 28 and 29 March. April won’t be outdone, with the addition of Sibiu - Romania – to the range of destinations available from the airline Wizz Air. Lastly, a new chapter is beginning for Brussels South Charleroi Airport on 30 April 2018 with the official launch of long-haul flights from Charleroi.
