10.000 Ski tourists from the Ukraine will arrive at the Allgäu Airport

Up to five flights per week – Daily flights from June

The Allgäu Airport is increasingly becoming a springboard to the snow for skiers from Ukraine, because the direct flights from Kiev to Memmingen by Wizz Air enjoy great popularity. “This winter we expect about 10.000 arriving skiers on this route”, says Ralf Schmid, managing director of the Allgäu Airport. From January 8, the number of flights will be increased from four to five flights a week. Large tour operators like TUI Ukraine had ordered seat capacity, especially for flights on Saturdays. From Memmingen, the ski-enthusiastic Ukrainians travel on to the winter sports centres in Tyrol and Vorarlberg, to Switzerland and to northern Italy. Wizz Air has already announced to operate a daily flight from Kiev to Memmingen and back for the summer flight schedule. In addition to the ski tourists, there are also Ukrainians living abroad, business people and city tourists using this attractive flight connection. But there also is an increasingly stronger demand for the other Eastern Europe-routes by Wizz Air to Belgrade, Bucharest and Skopje. From April 1, Wizz Air will additionally fly two times a week to Tirgu Mures in the northwestern part of Romania.
