Punta Cana Airport Introduces AI-Powered Technology to Enhance Security Screening

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) has implemented SeeTrue’s artificial intelligence platform to enhance the detection of illicit drugs and undeclared currency at its passenger security checkpoints.

The technology is integrated with Leidos’ CT ClearScan baggage screening system, enabling automated, real-time analysis of CT images to help security personnel identify concealed contraband while maintaining operational checkpoint processing speeds.

The implementation, supported by Leidos’ local partner PBS Group, marks the first deployment of SeeTrue’s AI algorithms for drug and undeclared currency detection using ClearScan technology at an international airport.

The initiative forms part of PUJ’s broader investment in modernizing its security checkpoints and strengthening both operational efficiency and passenger processing capacity.
