UNITED Postpones San Francisco – Taipei Service Resumption till March 2014

As per 01APR13 GDS Inventory display as well as internal announcement, UNITED further delays planned San Francisco – Taipei Taoyuan service resumption. The new resumption date is scheduled around March 2014, instead of 06JUN13. In the GDS, the Star Alliance member has already closed reservations in Economy Class since 30MAR13, while First Class and Business Class is still open, but this will be closed soon.

In its internal bulletin and travel agents advisory (for Taiwan market) issued on 01APR13, the airline claims the latest delay is due to “market seasonality and the availability of widebody aircraft as a result of the ongoing Boeing 787 delays….Due to the 787 issue, the Boeing 777 that we would use on the SFO-TPE route is now needed to support other existing routes that we planned to transition to Boeing 787s.”

Previously planned schedule as follow:
UA871 SFO1405 – 1810+1TPE 777 D
UA872 TPE1155 – 0830SFO 777 D

UA also planned to switch from 777 to 747 from 26OCT13 as well.
