Lufthansa W15 Long-Haul Operation Changes as of 28MAY15

Lufthansa this week begins major update for its winter 2015/16 long-haul operations, effective 25OCT15. Significant changes as follow.

Frankfurt – Atlanta Airbus A340-600 operates on daily basis. (Previous plan: A330-300 operating on Day 1)
Frankfurt – Boston winter season operated by Boeing 747-400, instead of -8I in summer
Frankfurt – Dammam Operational frequency will be kept at 7 weekly, instead of previously planned 4. LH will operate Frankfurt – Dammam – Bahrain with A330-300

Frankfurt – Doha – Muscat eff 24JAN16 Airbus A340-300 replaces A330-300, daily service
Frankfurt – Hong Kong Airbus A380 replaces Boeing 747-8I, daily service (routine frequency reductions in Jan/Feb 2016)
Frankfurt – Johannesburg Boeing 747-8I replaces A380 for Northern winter season, daily service
Frankfurt – Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta Planned Boeing 747-400 operation cancelled. Airbus A340-300 continues to operate 5 weekly from 25OCT15
Frankfurt – Kuwait City Service operates as terminator operation on daily basis. 4 of 7 weekly service no longer extends to Dammam

Frankfurt – Mumbai Planned A380 service cancelled. Boeing 747-400 (3-class) continues to operate this route on daily basis
Frankfurt – Nagoya 26DEC15 – 05MAR16 Service reduces from 5 to 4 weekly (Day x247 from FRA, Day x135 from NGO). Service in January 2016 further reduced to 3 weekly
Frankfurt – Nanjing Service reduces from 5 to 4 weekly (Day x135 from FRA, Day x246 from NKG), A340-300 operation. Service in January 2016 further reduced to 3 weekly
Frankfurt – New York JFK Revised operational aircraft changes. LH404/405 operated by A340-600, instead of 747-400 (LH400/401 operated by 747-8I)
Frankfurt – Osaka Kansai Service in winter reduces from 7 to 5 weekly (Day x13 from FRA, Day x24 from KIX), A340-300 operation. Service in January 2016 further reduced to 4 weekly
Frankfurt – Riyadh A330-300 operates daily remains unchanged, however Riyadh – Bahrain sector is cancelled

Frankfurt – Seattle Service operates with A340-300 in winter season. Premium Economy Class to be offered from 16DEC15
Frankfurt – Seoul Incheon winter season operated by Boeing 747-8I, instead of A380 in summer
Munich – Cape Town Planned increase from 5 to 7 weekly remains unchanged, however CPT departure will move from night-time to day-time

Premium Economy Class service on Airbus A330-300 to the Middle East will be offered from 01DEC15. As usual, a number of long-haul routes will see seasonal frequency reductions by average 1-2 weekly flights, in January and February 2016.
