LH Cargo moves hub from Cologne to Leipzig

Lufthansa Cargo is shifting its freighter operation from Cologne to Leipzig when the Winter 2007/08 schedule launches, reported by Aircargo Asia Pacific.

This coincides the opening of DHL Express Europe hub, which is a joint-venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo since March 2004.

There will be 21 weekly MD11F service to Leipzig from 28OCT07.

However, the following routes are not affected:
5 weekly Brussels – New York v.v.
1 weekly Frankfurt – East Midlands – Wilmington OH v.v.
1 weekly East Midlands – Wilmington OH v.v.

There will also be 3 freighter flights out of Leipzig to Atlanta, Seoul and Istanbul.

Although Cologne remains a base, but Lufthansa will only offer capacity out of Cologne on the cargo deck of passenger flights or truck service.
