ASM EMBARKS ON A ROUTE DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT

Airport Strategy & Marketing (ASM) Ltd has been appointed by Bratislava Airport to provide expertise and analysis to aid the development of new routes and destinations initially for a two-year contract with the Slovakian gateway to Central Europe.

Airport Strategy & Marketing (ASM) Ltd has been appointed by Bratislava Airport to provide expertise and analysis to aid the development of new routes and destinations initially for a two-year contract with the Slovakian gateway to Central Europe.

Work for the airport kicked off in March, beginning with route delivery workshops and analysis of the market. The work coincides with the opening of a new three million passengers per annum terminal in June to accommodate the anticipated growth in the network and an increase in destinations. Through the partnership ASM will provide airline business case studies, will complete further, more in-depth analysis of the markets and develop and identify route development opportunities for Bratislava Airport.

Tony Griffin, ASM Chief Operating Officer, commented:

"By working with Bratislava Airport, we are confident that we can help the airport to further rebound from the demise of Sky Europe last year. We will be working to try and persuade carriers to develop a number of new destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the CIS.

"As Bratislava is very centrally located in Europe - situated in a densely populated region with a diverse catchment that includes traffic currently accessing the region to and from Vienna - it is, and can continue to be, a viable and competitive alternative to fly to.

"In 2009 the throughput for the airport was 1.7 million passengers, but was as high as 2.2 million when Sky Europe was still in operation.  It is at least this level of traffic that we are seeking to achieve by increasing the number of destinations served and airlines operating to Bratislava."
