Cam Ranh International Airport aims to become a smart airport, expanding capacity to 36 million passengers
Located in Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, Cam Ranh International Airport is an important aviation gateway connecting the South Central Coast with domestic and international markets. The airport serves Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa’s renowned tourism destinations, particularly its coastal resorts, and plays a key role in supporting the province’s international tourism growth.

Building on this role, Cam Ranh is being developed toward a smart, modern and passenger-friendly airport, while expanding its capacity to meet growing travel demand and strengthen international connectivity.
By 2027, Cam Ranh aims to digitize more than 60% of security screening processes and related procedures, gradually applying biometric identification, automated controls and data sharing to enhance aviation security and the passenger experience.
Alongside digital transformation, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is preparing to implement major investment projects at Cam Ranh. By 2030, the airport is planned to reach a capacity of approximately 19 million passengers and 50,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
Key projects include a new T1 passenger terminal with a capacity of 9 million passengers annually, expansion of the aircraft apron, and a new cargo terminal with an initial capacity of 50,000 tonnes per year. These projects will gradually strengthen the airport’s capacity and provide a foundation for expanding its air connectivity.

In the longer term, Cam Ranh is planned to handle 36 million passengers and 100,000 tonnes of cargo annually by 2050, with around 70 aircraft parking positions.
As an international aviation gateway to Khanh Hoa – one of Vietnam’s leading coastal tourism destinations – continued investment in infrastructure, technology and operational capacity will create greater opportunities for Cam Ranh to expand international connectivity, support tourism growth and strengthen its position within the regional aviation network.
