Phu Bai International Airport proposed to expand capacity to 7 million passengers
Hue is emerging as an increasingly attractive destination, known for its cultural and historical heritage, scenic landscapes, cuisine and diverse tourism offerings. Its designation as a centrally governed city, together with continued tourism development, is further enhancing its appeal to both domestic and international visitors.

In the first eight months of 2026, Hue welcomed approximately 5.817 million visitors, up 26.4% year on year, including 1.756 million international visitors, up 35%. The city is targeting 7–7.5 million visitors for the full year.
This growth is driving increasing demand for air connectivity. Phu Bai International Airport, the aviation gateway to Hue and one of the 21 airports managed and operated by ACV, plays an important role in connecting the city with domestic and international markets.

In response to the growing demand, the Hue City People’s Committee has proposed studying an increase in Phu Bai Airport’s designed capacity from 4 million to 7 million passengers per year by 2030, creating additional capacity to accommodate passenger growth and support the expansion of Hue’s air connectivity network.
