Another Record-Breaking Month for BHX

The latest figures underline continued demand for connectivity from the Midlands and Birmingham Airport’s growing role as a major UK gateway, serving a catchment of 9.2 million people within one hour and 13.3 million within 90 minutes.

July’s performance builds on a record 13.7 million passengers travelling through Birmingham Airport in 2025, as the airport continues to invest in the capacity, infrastructure and passenger experience needed to support further sustainable growth.

Dublin was the most travelled destination during July, reflecting the breadth of demand across business, leisure and visiting friends and relatives. Palma, Alicante and Malaga were also among the busiest routes as the peak summer travel period got underway.

Low-cost services recorded particularly strong growth, carrying 11% more passengers than in July 2025. The increase demonstrates the strength of the region’s leisure market and Birmingham Airport’s ability to support continued airline growth across a diverse mix of business models.

The airport’s performance is underpinned by one of the UK’s largest regional economies and a diverse passenger base. Birmingham Airport serves around 1.6 million business passengers annually, alongside strong leisure, inbound and visiting friends and relatives markets, creating resilient year-round demand for airline partners.

July also marked further investment in the passenger experience with the opening of two new Aspire lounges, while easyJet celebrated carrying its 10 millionth passenger through Birmingham Airport.

Alongside passenger and airline growth, Birmingham Airport continued its work to support the regional economy and local communities. During July, care-experienced young adults were welcomed behind the scenes to learn more about the airport and the range of career opportunities available across the site.

Birmingham Airport is delivering a £300 million investment programme to provide the infrastructure and capacity required for future growth. Improvements across security, baggage, airfield infrastructure, lounges and the wider terminal are supporting an airport which already connects passengers directly to 145 destinations and, through its airline partners, more than 650 destinations worldwide.

With available capacity, a strong and growing regional economy and year-round demand across business, leisure and VFR travel, July’s record performance further demonstrates Birmingham Airport’s position as a capacity-ready UK gateway for continued airline and network growth.

Welcoming more than 1.4 million passengers and setting a fourth consecutive record month of passengers is an incredible achievement and shows how many people across the region are choosing to fly from Birmingham for their summer trips.

“We’re constantly exploring opportunities to give our passengers a better experience and more choice, so it’s great to see new destinations appearing on our departure boards and continued improvements across the terminal to help make journeys easier and more enjoyable for everyone travelling through the airport.”

With the peak summer season well underway and further route launches scheduled for later this year, BHX expects passenger volumes to continue their upward trajectory.
