BHX Passenger Numbers Reach New High

August was another record-breaking month for BHX, with 1,575,318 passengers travelling through the terminal, a 3.7% increase on August 2025.
The latest figures continue a period of strong growth for Birmingham Airport, which welcomed a record 13.7 million passengers in 2025.
Dublin, Palma and Alicante were the most popular departures during August, with Dubai returning to the top five ahead of Malaga, reflecting the breadth of short and long-haul demand across the airport’s network.
Low-cost traffic continued to perform particularly strongly, increasing by 11% compared with August 2025.
The record month reflects the strength of the market Birmingham Airport serves. Some 9.2 million people live within one hour of the airport and 13.3 million within 90 minutes, representing more than 20% of the population of England and Wales.
BHX also serves a significant business market, with 1.6 million business passengers travelling through the airport annually and approximately 60% of the West Midlands business travel market using Birmingham Airport.
The airport sits at the heart of a £77 billion regional economy, with major strengths across advanced manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, life sciences, digital technology, professional services and the creative industries. Together with strong leisure, inbound and visiting friends and relatives demand, this provides a broad passenger base supporting year-round connectivity.
Elsewhere during August, the airport continued to invest in its passenger experience, including the opening of a new wagamama restaurant in the departure lounge. The pan-Asian restaurant provides passengers with another choice for dining before departure, as well as takeaway options for their journey.
