Birmingham Airport (BHX) is strengthening its leisure connectivity further as Jet2 announces an extended flying programme to Tunisia.

Jet2 has announced an expansion of its Tunisia programme from Birmingham Airport (BHX), extending flights and holidays beyond the traditional summer season following strong demand from early bookers.

The expansion demonstrates the strength of Birmingham Airport's leisure market and its ability to support airline partners in responding to evolving passenger demand, with additional capacity and an extended operating season providing more opportunities for customers to travel.

Following the announcement of Tunisia as a new destination for Summer 2027, Jet2 will now extend its services from Birmingham Airport to Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport until 27th November 2027, four weeks later than originally scheduled. Flights will then resume from 12th February 2028, continuing throughout Summer 2028.

Services will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, providing greater flexibility for passengers seeking winter sunshine and opening up additional travel opportunities during the October and February half-term holidays.

Located at the heart of England, Birmingham Airport serves one of the UK's largest and most diverse passenger catchments, with access to millions of potential travellers across the Midlands and beyond. This extensive market supports strong demand across leisure, business and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) travel, providing airline partners with opportunities to develop routes, extend operating seasons and grow capacity.

Jet2's decision to extend its Tunisia programme reflects the potential of this market, with strong early bookings demonstrating the appetite for new leisure destinations and year-round travel opportunities from Birmingham.

Having welcomed a record 13.7 million passengers in 2025, Birmingham Airport continues to invest in its infrastructure and long-term growth, including a £300 million capital investment programme focused on enhancing passenger experience, operational efficiency and capacity for airline partners.

This commitment is further reinforced by the airport's recently announced draft Master Plan, outlining a proposed £2 billion investment programme over the next 15 years, with ambitions to accommodate approximately 30 million passengers annually. The plans reflect Birmingham Airport's long-term vision to strengthen connectivity, support sustainable airline growth and unlock further economic opportunities across the Midlands and beyond.

With available capacity, flexible scheduling opportunities and a growing regional economy, Birmingham Airport is well positioned to support further airline expansion, including new destinations, additional frequencies and extended seasonal services.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said: "The response to the launch of Tunisia for Summer 2027 has been fantastic. With plenty of demand from customers and independent travel agents looking to book early and looking to book Tunisia for some winter sunshine, we are delighted to be extending our programme from Birmingham Airport."

"This expansion gives customers across the Midlands even more opportunities to enjoy everything that Tunisia has to offer, whilst enjoying our industry-leading customer service. We know there is enormous appetite for this destination, and we are pleased to be responding by offering customers greater choice and flexibility when planning their holidays."

Matthew Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer at Birmingham Airport, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Jet2 to extend this programme, giving even more families and holidaymakers the opportunity to enjoy everything Tunisia has to offer throughout the winter months. It is encouraging to see the destination thriving as a popular winter sun hotspot among our customers.

“The additional flights provide a great opportunity for families to enjoy a well-earned break during the school half-term holidays, with excellent value on offer. We look forward to helping passengers begin their journey and enjoy a memorable getaway to this stunning destination."
