Birmingham Airport (BHX) is preparing for its busiest October half term on record, with 419,775 passengers expected to travel through the airport.

Serving one of the UK's largest and most diverse passenger catchments, Birmingham Airport continues to see strong demand across leisure, business, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) markets, supported by its extensive network of direct flights and onward global connections.

Dublin, Amsterdam, Dubai, Alicante, and Palma de Mallorca are expected to be the five most popular destinations during the half-term break, reflecting the airport's combination of major international hubs, European city destinations, and established leisure routes.

The busy half-term period comes as Birmingham Airport continues to strengthen its international connectivity, following a record 13.7 million passengers in 2025.

Sunday 25th October also marks another milestone in the airport's network development, with EGYPTAIR launching its new four-times-weekly service to Cairo. The route strengthens Birmingham's connectivity with Egypt while opening up further opportunities for onward travel across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.

Further expanding the airport's leisure offering, easyJet will launch its new direct service to Agadir, Morocco, on Tuesday 27th October, providing passengers with another sunshine destination and strengthening BHX's growing network of routes across North Africa.

Alongside its expanding network, Birmingham Airport is progressing a £300 million investment programme to enhance passenger facilities, improve operational efficiency, and support future airline growth.

Matt Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer of Birmingham Airport, said: “This October half-term will see over 400,000 passengers pass through the airport, travelling to destinations near and far, from European city breaks and autumn sun escapes to onward connections through our international hubs. We look forward to welcoming them to the terminal and being part of their journey.”
