New Egypt Air service us good news to Danish trade and industry
Egypt Air’s new direct service to Cairo to be opened in October will close an important hole in the route network out of Copenhagen Airport. The new service is good news to Danish trade and industry which, together with tourism, will benefit from the better accessibility to Egypt and Africa.
On 1 October, Egypt Air opens a new non-stop service to Cairo, connecting Copenhagen with the African continent. Given Egypt Air's large route network, the new service will provide accessibility not only to all of Egypt, but also to destinations in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and the Middle East. The accessibility to these destinations, and to Cairo in particular, will therefore be significantly enhanced, which will benefit Danish companies doing business in the region, but just as much Danish trade and industry in general.
Michael Svane, CEO of the Danish Transport Federation comments, "International accessibility by way of non-stop airline services to and from overseas destinations is vital to Danish trade and industry. A non-stop service between Cairo and Copenhagen will contribute to increased accessibility at a time when accessibility is challenged. The new service will contribute strongly to promoting the interests of Danish trade and industry in Egypt."
Both trade and industry and tourism will benefit
Cairo's attractive geographic location close to several large and growing tourist locations will make the new service attractive not only to Danish trade and industry but also to the tourist industry. Destinations served by Egypt Air out of Cairo include Luxor, Dubai, Nairobi, South Africa and Abu Dhabi, which, like Cairo, are important tourist destinations.
"Every week, Danish business people travel to Egypt to promote trade and to offer Danish expertise to their business partners in Egypt. And the new route will ensure even better conditions for the already large inflow of Danish tourists," said Christian Hoppe, the Danish Ambassador in Cairo.
A member of the Star Alliance
Egypt Air is a recent member of the Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance, which will pave the way for valuable collaboration with SAS and thus for increased transfer traffic at Copenhagen Airport.
"The membership of the Star Alliance enhances the network out of Cairo and provides a multitude of connections at our end of the route. It makes the route accessible for tourism and trade and industry beyond the region around Copenhagen and strengthens the airport's position as a hub. We are pleased that we can in this way help strengthen the position of the Danish Capital Region and Danish trade and industry in general," said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales for Copenhagen Airports.
Brand new aircraft
Egypt Air will use a brand new B737-800 with 144 seats on the route. There will be three weekly frequencies on the service, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, leaving Copenhagen at 3.45 p.m. and leaving Cairo at 10.00 a.m. For more information, go to Egyptair.com.
