CUR elevates travel with two new passenger boarding bridges

Willemstad, September 9, 2025 - Curaçao International Airport | CUR is entering an exciting new chapter, with several major initiatives underway that will shape its future and strengthen its role in the community. Over the coming months, these important milestones will be shared, starting now with a major step forward in the passenger experience. Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), the operator of CUR, has purchased two state-of-the-art passenger boarding bridges, designed with full glass walls and air conditioning, offering travelers both comfort and an unforgettable view of Curaçao’s natural beauty as they transition between the terminal and their aircraft.

This year, two existing bridges will be replaced with the new glass models, and gradually, until 2027, all current bridges will be upgraded to these modern designs.

These new bridges are more than just infrastructure upgrades, they represent CAP’s ongoing commitment to service excellence, sustainability, and creating a sense of place for everyone traveling through Curaçao.

A unique Curaçao experience
With modern air conditioning, the bridges provide a pleasant environment regardless of weather conditions outside. The glass walls give passengers a chance to enjoy the island’s sunshine and ocean view on the Airside, even during boarding. For many, this will be their first or last impression of Curaçao, transforming a normally functional part of the airport journey into a memorable moment that reflects the island’s warm and vibrant spirit.

Part of a larger vision
The new bridges are part of CAP’s continuous improvement strategy to modernize airport facilities, invest in sustainability, and strengthen the airport’s role as a gateway to Curaçao. As part of its ongoing ESG commitments to becoming a greener airport, CAP will also use these bridges as a pilot project for tinted glass technology. By reducing solar heat gain, the tinted glass will help lower energy consumption for cooling, contributing to greater efficiency and reduced environmental impact. This combination of innovation, comfort, and sustainability reflects not only CAP’s forward-looking vision but also a deep sense of pride in shaping an airport that Curaçao can call its own.

“These new boarding bridges embody what we want every traveler to feel, comfort, efficiency, and a unique connection to Curaçao,” said CAP CEO, Mr. Ricardo Hernández. “It’s an investment not only in infrastructure but also in the passenger experience and in the future of our airport.”

The new bridges arrived today, marking the start of their installation process, which is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2025. Passengers are expected to enjoy them shortly thereafter.

Through this initiative, CAP reaffirms its dedication to investing in people, infrastructure, and experiences that make CUR a welcoming hub for both residents and visitors.
