Great news: Bratislava will be connected directly to Istanbul, Turkey

From May of this year, a new destination will be available at the Bratislava M. R. Štefánik Airport - a flight directly to the Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW). The new route connecting Bratislava with this extraordinarily popular destination will be operated by the Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines. The city of Istanbul also serves as a convenient hub that will allow passengers to visit other exciting places located in Asia and Middle East.

The new direct flight to the Turkish metropolis will be launched in the mid-May 2024, with two rotations weekly. This will be the third regular flight to Turkey from Bratislava Airport. There are already year-round flights from Bratislava to the Turkish resort of Dalaman, which are operated by Ryanair. In addition to Ryanair, Pegasus Airlines will also start running a direct flight to the Turkish riviera, specifically to the holiday destination of Antalya.

Negotiations with the Turkish carrier were successful thanks to the co-operation of several teams from Bratislava Airport, the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs.

“It is an enormous success for the Bratislava Airport, which was made possible thanks to a great team of people of several departments. This route will not only facilitate travel to Istanbul but can also serve as a junction to other regional or long-haul flights to Asia or Middle East. I am glad that I can welcome a new carrier – Pegasus Airlines – which will operate regular flights from Bratislava for the first time” added Ing. Dušan Novota, the general director and the chairman of the board of the M. R. Štefánik Airport.

“We are delighted to be launching a regular scheduled service connecting Bratislava and Slovakia with the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul for summer 2024, with flights operating twice a week between Bratislava Airport and our hub, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen airport. Pegasus Airlines is proud to connect the two countries with a regular direct service, offering a unique experience to all who travel with us. We are also looking forward to launching flights between Bratislava and Antalya from 18 May 2024. We would also like to thank the management of Bratislava Airport for their exceptional cooperation," added Emre Pekesen, Sales and Network Planning Group Director of Pegasus Airlines.
