April Becomes the Strongest Month in the BTS Airport’s History
M. R. Štefánik Airport handled more than 360,000 passengers in the fourth month of the year. April became the strongest month in the airport’s history, with passenger numbers exceeding 360,000 in a single month for the very first time.
“Last year, we recorded historic passenger records, but even during the strongest months of July and August 2025, passenger numbers did not exceed 359,000. This year, already in April, we reached passenger volumes comparable to last year’s peak holiday months, handling a total of 360,798 passengers on arrivals and departures. In April last year, the airport handled 147,000 passengers,“ said Dušan Novota, CEO of M. R. Štefánik Airport. Year-on-year, this represents an increase of 145%.
The highest number of passengers in April travelled between Bratislava and London (both Stansted and Luton airports), Rome (both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports), Barcelona, Košice and Malaga.
In April, the airport also reached its first million handled passengers of the year. From the beginning of January to the end of April, M. R. Štefánik Airport handled a total of 1,039,839 passengers on arrivals and departures, representing a 147% increase compared to the same period last year, when 421,000 passengers were handled. The millionth passenger passed through the airport on 28 April.
In April, Bratislava Airport recorded 3,238 aircraft movements, 49% more than in April 2025, and handled 1,800 tonnes of air cargo. In the first four months of the year, the airport recorded a total of 10,296 aircraft movements, up 47%.
