Bratislava Airport surpasses another historic milestone: Nearly 620,000 passengers handled in July

“Following June’s historic record, when we handled more than half a million passengers in a single month for the first time, we surpassed another significant milestone already in July. Nearly 620,000 passengers in one month is the highest number of passengers ever handled by Bratislava Airport in a single month. The results also indicate that we are likely to welcome our three-millionth passenger of the year already in August,” said Dušan Novota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of M. R. Štefánik Airport.

During July, exactly 619,902 passengers passed through Bratislava Airport, representing an increase of 73% compared with July 2025. While in June 2026 the airport set a new historic record by handling 510,152 passengers and exceeded the half-a-million mark for the first time, just one month later it raised the all-time monthly record by more than another 100,000 passengers. The previous June record of more than half a million passengers was also confirmed by the airport’s earlier statistics.

Results have also been record-breaking since the beginning of the year. From January to the end of July, M. R. Štefánik Airport handled a total of 2,568,532 passengers, representing an increase of 108% compared with the same period last year. In just the first seven months of this year, the airport has therefore already surpassed the total number of passengers handled during the whole of last year. In 2025, the airport handled a total of 2,438,215 passengers, which was at that time the all-time annual record for Bratislava Airport.

“The fact that we were able to surpass last year’s all-time annual record after just seven months confirms the exceptionally strong growth of Bratislava Airport. The results have been driven primarily by the significant expansion of scheduled traffic, the opening of Wizz Air’s base in Bratislava and increased flight frequencies by other airline partners. We continue to expect to finish 2026 with more than four million passengers handled,” added Dušan Novota.

A total of 4,867 arriving and departing flights were operated at M. R. Štefánik Airport in July, representing an increase of 44%. From the beginning of January to the end of July, a total of 23,494 flights were operated, up 44% compared with the same period last year.

Air cargo traffic also recorded growth. In July, Bratislava Airport handled a total of 2,048 tonnes of air cargo, representing an increase of 31%.

The most popular destinations in July included Antalya, Barcelona, London, Rome and Košice. Since the beginning of the year, the most popular destinations have been Barcelona, London, Rome, Košice, Antalya and Málaga.
