S25 Season Start Exceeded Expectations at NUE Airport

Nuremberg Airport has kicked off the summer season of 2025 with impressive performance, after having finalised the first quarter of the year with a growth of 8%. This summer season, the airport is already setting new records in passenger traffic with a route network that includes 60 nonstop destinations.
The Easter vacations at the beginning of the S25 season exceeded the previous year’s Easter vacations by 34% more passengers. Especially leisure destinations like Mallorca or Antalya drove this improvement as well as the engagement by Marabu, Eurowings and SunExpress Airlines. New in summer are routes to VAR and RMO both operated by Wizz Air. At the end of the summer, Wizz Air will also operate new routes to TSR and GHV.
Overall, the S25 start proved to exceed expectations: the month of April exceeded the forecast by 2%. The month of May proved to be more or less stable compared to the last year due to the shift in holiday periods towards June. June, for the same reason, is expected to profit strongly of this shift and is forecasted to grow 20% compared to 2024.
All in all, this leads to a new record; the best-performing April in terms of O&D passengers in the history of Nuremberg airport. The NUE team is excited to see what is still to come, as the summer has only just begun and the Bavarian Whitsun as well as summer vacations are just around the corner.
