Terminal Development Project update April 2015

Wellington Airport has started work on an extension to the main terminal building and apron.

Project Overview

The extension will add another 35 metres to the terminal building, providing a refreshing, open space with easy movement throughout the terminal, clear signs, more parking spaces for aircraft, and a centralised screening point. It will be a very comfortable place to welcome and farewell family and friends with new retail and food offerings, and double the number of toilets.

Project Update April 2015

The construction site is now well established, with initial works focusing on construction of new foundations for the MainTerminal building, extension of the South Pier extension and expansion of the South West Pier.

Apron works completed to date include the establishment of the Remote Stand 1, this work included removal of an existing building, excavation and relocation ofservices before laying new asphalt and new gradients to accept aircraft. Additional apron works include the remarking of stands 18 – 20, with the creation of an additional stand.
