New Zealand’s home of adventure, Queenstown, has been named in TIME magazine’s annual list of the World’s Greatest Places, which highlights 50 extraordinary travel destinations around the world.

Praising Queenstown for its ‘high-flying adventure’, TIME wrote: “Set on the shores of Lake Wakatipu on South Island, Queenstown is both a destination in its own right and a fantastic base to explore the region’s diverse landscapes.”

It namechecked new accommodation and entertainment options in the resort town, alongside Queenstown’s beautiful natural scenery and world-class wine offering as highlights.

The list was compiled via nominations from TIME’s international network of correspondents and contributors, with particular emphasis on destinations offering new and exciting experiences.
