Ryanair Downsizes Budapest Operation from Jan 2013

Ryanair on Thursday (22NOV12) announced its plan to downsize operation at Budapest, blaming the airport’s high airport cost. From 10JAN13, the airline will downsize from 30 routes to 20 and removal of 2 of 5 aircraft based at BUD.

This move also sees Ryanair’s weekly operation at BUD dropping from 280 to 170. Planned route cancellations:

Budapest – Birmingham 2 weekly
Budapest – Bologna 2 weekly
Budapest – Dusseldorf 3 weekly
Budapest – Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden 3 weekly
Budapest – Krakow 3 weekly
Budapest – Hamburg Lubeck *
Budapest – Malaga *
Budapest – Munich *
Budapest – Oslo 3 weekly
Budapest – Thessaloniki 3 weekly

The airline will also reduce operation on 9 of 20 remaining routes.
