Cyprus Airports Achieve Third-Highest Passenger Growth in Europe for H1 2025

Cyprus has emerged as one of Europe’s top-performing countries in air travel for the first half of 2025, as the island's airports recorded the third-highest performance in terms of passenger number growth, according to the latest report from ACI EUROPE.
While the European airport network saw an average increase of +4.5% in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year, Cyprus soared ahead with an impressive 11% growth. From January to June, Larnaka airport recorded an impressive 18% increase in passenger traffic and Pafos airport remained steady.
Key markets such as Israel (22%), the United Kingdom (15%), Greece (11%), and Poland (11%) were among the top contributors to gross growth during the first six months of the year. Other notable markets included Armenia, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and Serbia.
A wide range of airlines contributed to this growth, including Wizz Air, Cyprus Airways, Aegean Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, easyJet, Air Haifa, British Airways, FLYONE, EL AL Israel Airlines, and Sunclass Airlines. Their expanded operations and increased frequencies played a vital role in boosting passenger traffic across both Larnaka and Pafos airports.
This positive performance, even before the peak summer season and strong demand of holiday makers, highlights the effectiveness of Hermes Airports’ strategy, that targets to continuously enhance the connectivity of Cyprus throughout the year, targeting new routes and increasing capacity on existing routes.
Cyprus’s consistent growth is a clear sign of resilience amid ongoing challenges in the global aviation industry.
