Da Nang International Airport Expands Terminal 2 Capacity – One Region – Multiple Gateways
Da Nang International Airport has officially commenced the expansion of Terminal 2 under a project with a total investment of nearly VND 1.5 trillion, aiming to increase international passenger handling capacity and support the continued growth of Central Vietnam as an emerging aviation and tourism hub.
Since its inauguration in 2017 with a designed capacity of 4 million international passengers annually, Terminal 2 has recorded strong traffic growth. International passenger volume exceeded the original design capacity prior to the pandemic and continued its robust recovery, reaching approximately 6.18 million passengers in 2024 and 6.81 million passengers in 2025.

The expansion project includes enlarging terminal space, increasing check-in counters and boarding facilities, enhancing baggage handling systems and improving overall passenger experience to accommodate future demand.
The continued investment in Da Nang International Airport highlights the growing role of Central Vietnam in regional and international connectivity. Located approximately 95 km from Da Nang (around 1.5–2 hours by road), Phu Bai International Airport complements the regional airport network and provides additional connectivity options for passengers travelling to Central Vietnam.
