2015 Routes Americas awards Aruba Airport as “Highly Commended” for Excellence in Airport Marketing

"This is a wonderful recognition of the achievement of our aviation marketing team over the past year. To be recognised for our hard efforts by this industry's peers is even more rewarding"

During a spectacular networking evening at Seawell Ballroom hosted by the Denver International Airport, Aruba Airport was Highly Commended for Excellence in Airport Marketing in the category for airports under 4 Million passengers. The award was proudly received by our Head of Airline Marketing, Mrs. Jo-Anne Arends and Mrs. Barbara Brown, Business Unit Manager Terminal.

Over 650 aviation professionals were gathered to witness the presentation of the awards and to take part in the 8th Routes Americas – the largest route development event for the entire Americas.

The annual Routes awards are highly regarded as the most valuable awards in the industry as they are voted for and judged by the airline network planning community. They provide the airline community with the chance to have their say as to which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services to them whether it be about their particular relationship, effective results, provision of data and information or innovative techniques to establish new or maintain and develop existing routes.

Aruba Airport was short listed for this Airport Marketing award together with Regina Airport Authority (Saskatchewan, Canada), Montego Bay International Airport, Savannah/Hilton Head (Georgia) and State College (Pennsylvania). The shortlisted finalists were nominated by airlines and a respected panel of Judges made up of senior members of the airline network planning community from the region then reviewed the list if submissions from the nominated airports in order to determine the winners. The panel consisted of the following experts: John Kirby, VP of Capacity, Alaska Airlines - Adriana Hurtado, Director of Network Planning, Avianca - Dave Clark, VP Network Planning, JetBlue - John Weatherill, Director of Network and Schedule Planning, WestJet - Lukas Johnson, VP Network and Pricing, Allegiant - Angel Garcia, Director Network Planning, VivaAerobus.

The nominations and awards are an important benchmark for us to monitor how we are doing compared to the competition, since all airports go full swing nowadays to charm the airline industry. This award is a great way for us to have a credible recognition which we can proudly talk about to our customers and other stakeholders.

"This is a wonderful recognition of the achievement of our aviation marketing team over the past year. To be recognised for our hard efforts by this industry's peers is even more rewarding," said AAA CEO, James Fazio.
