2 New Parking positions at Aruba Airport

As part of the expansion program:

Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) in its continuing efforts to keep pace with the growing demand in air traffic, has completed phase 1 of the West Apron Redevelopment Project, the first step in a three phase redevelopment plan for the west side of the airport, totaling over 16M florins in investment.

The completion of phase 1 adds 2 new aircraft parking positions, suitable for category “C” type aircraft (B-737/ A320) as well as a new taxiway entrance, which when completed in phase 2, will give Air Traffic Control additional flexibility in coordinating aircraft ground operations. The project also includes the provisions for in-ground hydrant fueling, LED lighting for reduced power consumption, and has been designed to complement the pending expansion of the terminal, which is expected to start in early 2017.

The project that started in June 2015, will add much needed aircraft parking capacity and operational flexibility, and position the airport to better handle peak volume periods, especially during the high winter season.

“This is just a small, but important step in the total development plan for the airport. We’re constantly developing and further enhancing our facility to benefit not only our airlines and passengers, but also the rest of the island. Aruba Airport is well aware of its impact on the economy and therefor has committed to a long-term strategy to keep ahead of demand, and ensure that the airport continues to keep pace with the growing number of visitors to the island. We’re convinced that the 16 million florins investment will help us maintain our leader status in the aviation and airports industry”, said James Fazio, AAA CEO.
