Aruba Airport and Air Century Expand Connectivity with New Year-Round Route from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to Aruba

ORANJESTAD - Aruba Airport (AUA) is thrilled to announce a significant network expansion with the support of its trusted airline partner, Air Century, which has flown over 13,500 passengers to Aruba since 2018.

Air Century recently confirmed that it will be expanding its connection to the island by adding a new direct, year-round flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ) to Aruba (AUA).

On Monday, October 2, 2023, Aruba Airport had the privilege of hosting the Air Century team, led by Air Century's Commercial Director, Mr. Felipe Gutierrez, Station Manager in Aruba, Ms. Solandry Fuentes, Sales Executive, Ms. Linette De Los Santos, and Sr. Marketing Coordinator, Ms. Cinthya Baez. Aruba Airport’s Chief Revenue Development & Communications Officer, Ms. Barbara Brown, Aviation Business Development Executive, Mrs. Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends, and the Aviation Business Development team engaged in fruitful discussions about Air Century’s air service development and strategic plans for 2023 and 2024.

During this meeting, Air Century reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its services in Aruba. One of the key developments discussed was the upcoming route from Punta Cana to Aruba, set to launch on December 15, 2023. Operating three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), this new route will be serviced by a CRJ-200 aircraft, offering 50 seats per flight. It is expected to generate an additional 150 weekly seats, enhancing travel possibilities between the Dominican Republic and Aruba.

The new PUJ-AUA route will not only benefit passengers traveling from Aruba but also serve as a pivotal hub for Air Century, connecting travelers from various destinations such as Havana, St. Maarten, Cartagena, Curacao, and Puerto Rico. The airline has ambitious plans to further expand its operations with direct routes to cities like Miami, New York, and Cancun, further strengthening connectivity for travelers from the Caribbean to North America.

In addition to this route, Air Century plans to strengthen its fleet by adding two CRJ-700 aircraft in November 2023, with further fleet expansion anticipated in 2024. These aircraft, boasting a seating capacity of approximately 70 seats, will significantly boost connectivity between Aruba and the Dominican Republic.

"We are thrilled to welcome Air Century's expanded services from Punta Cana to Aruba. This aligns perfectly with our commitment to continuously improve point to point connectivity for travelers and connections to the Caribbean and beyond. We highly value our partnership with Air Century and look forward to offering our passengers even more convenient and affordable travel options”, said Aviation Business Development Executive, Mrs. Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends.
