Budapest Airport announces a new airline, SCAT airlines, offering new direct flights to Kazakhstan
Just six weeks into the new year and another new airline is added to the schedule of Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network. The new direct service between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan, will be operated by SCAT Airlines from 27 May, adding a completely new destination to Budapest Airport’s ever-expanding portfolio.
SCAT Airlines will operate flights between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, utilising state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8200 aircraft, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for passengers.
The initial operation is planned for the whole year, starting in May, providing Hungarian travellers with direct access to one of Kazakhstan’s key economic and cultural hubs.
“This new route to Shymkent is a significant milestone for Budapest Airport, further strengthening the air connections between Central Asia and Hungary,” said Francois Berisot, the chief executive officer of Budapest Airport. “We are thrilled to welcome SCAT Airlines to Budapest and look forward to the launch of this flight that benefits both leisure and business travellers, while creating new connections and opportunities for tourism, economy and trade between the two countries.”
Shymkent, with its special gastronomy and unique atmosphere combining modernity and tradition, is an exciting destination in the range of flights from Budapest. Formerly a key strategic stop on the Silk Road, the city is still an important economic centre and a major tourist destination, home to authentic bazaar rows, tea houses and spas, and a gateway to the beautiful landscapes of South Kazakhstan. With SCAT Airlines joining, passengers departing from Budapest will have a wider range of options and seamless connections to additional cities within the region.
