Popular Dutch city – easyJet soon to start AMS–CPH route

Announcing seven weekly departures, low-cost carrier easyJet is opening yet another route to Copenhagen, this time from Amsterdam. easyJet plans to open the route as part of its 2020 summer programme, responding to generally growing demand from travellers flying between Amsterdam and the Danish capital.

The Dutch and the Danes really enjoy visiting each other. Demand for air travel between the two European capitals has generally trended upward in recent years. In 2018, the number of passengers to and from Amsterdam’s Airport, Schiphol, rose by six per cent and by two per cent last year.

Now, passengers wanting to travel between the two destinations will have even more options. easyJet is planning to open a new route serving Schiphol and Copenhagen airports by end of March. The carrier will have seven weekly departures on the route, which is already served by SAS, Norwegian and KLM.

William Vet, Country Manager for easyJet in the Netherlands, said:

“We are delighted to add this new route to Copenhagen to our network from Amsterdam, serving the business market in particular. Copenhagen is a fantastic destination and has something to offer for every traveller. It is also the first time we’re flying to Scandinavia from Amsterdam and we are excited for our customers to benefit from our year-round schedule, with flights operating every day of the week.”

For Copenhagen Airports, one more CPH–AMS route is good news.

“We’re very pleased to welcome easyJet on the Copenhagen to Amsterdam route. It’ll give our passengers even more options and help to accommodate recent years’ demand for travel between the two cities. easyJet is already the second-largest operator in Amsterdam, and we see it as a natural next step for them to establish a new route to CPH, which is an important easyJet network point for the Nordic region,” says Chief Commercial Officer Peter Krogsgaard of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
