100 million passengers at BER

Milestone reached shortly before fifth anniversary

BER Airport celebrated welcoming its 100 millionth passenger today. Jessica Metag boarded an Air France flight from BER to Paris. István Szabó, Chief Operations Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, and Bas 't Hooft, Director of Air France-KLM Germany, congratulated her before departure and surprised her with an Air France flight voucher for two people from BER to Paris.

“Today we have reached an important milestone. 100 million passengers illustrate how strongly BER has developed since it started operations. After the first few years, which were dominated by the corona virus pandemic, it now plays a central role in the transport infrastructure of the Berlin-Brandenburg region and beyond. With its extensive route network, BER offers important and attractive tourist and business connections within Germany, to Europe and around the world,” says István Szabó, Chief Operations Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.

Bas 't Hooft, Director of Air France-KLM Germany: “We are delighted to welcome the 100 millionth passenger to BER today. The fact that it is an Air France passenger makes this event all the more special for us, of course. Above all, because Air France's long-standing connection with Berlin has lasted for so many decades. In January, we celebrated 75 years of operations in the German capital, and since November 2020, Air France has been connecting Berlin with Paris up to six times a day.”

As of today, 100 million passengers have travelled from, to and via BER since the airport opened. After a slow start due to the corona virus pandemic, travel began to recover in 2021 and 2022, with steady and positive growth in both traffic and passenger numbers. In July 2021, the airport recorded more than one million passengers in a single month for the first time, and in September 2022 more than two million passengers. 2024 marks the strongest year to date with 25.5 million passengers. At 101,893 passengers, 17 October 2025 was the busiest day since BER opened.
