Summer in the States: Delta to fly Stockholm-New York in 2022

17th December update:

  • U.S. airline will fly daily from June 2, 2022
  • Refreshed cabins bring more choice to customers, including premium economy

Delta Air Lines is returning to Sweden in summer 2022, with nonstop daily service to New York-JFK. Customers flying to the U.S. will enjoy more choice of cabin experience, including Delta One business class and for the first time, Delta Premium Select, the airline’s premium economy cabin, which offers larger seats with more legroom and an adjustable footrest.

Flights will begin on June 2 and offer same-day connections to more than 40 cities across the United States from Delta’s JFK hub. Delta has been rebuilding its network since international borders reopened earlier this year. With the addition of Stockholm to its 2022 route map, Delta will have more than 100% capacity increase on European routes next year compared with summer 2021. In total, Delta plans to operate up to 70 daily flights from 21 destinations in Europe to 10 U.S. airports next summer.

“Since the U.S. reopened to international visitors last month, we have seen increased demand for travel with many already planning their 2022 summer holidays,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s Vice President – EMEAI, “We’re looking forward to bringing our award-winning service and new flight experience back to Sweden as well as facilitating more travel and trade between our nations through this service.”

“The return of Delta Airlines to Stockholm and Arlanda with its non-stop service to New York is another sign of how strong the Swedish market is. Sweden has many exchanges with the US, and this connection is important both for travellers who love New York and for air cargo, but not least for Swedish business and tourism,” says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director of Aviation Business at Swedavia.

All customers will enjoy personal seatback entertainment screens with new premium content, including playlists curated by Spotify and “Classes in the Clouds”, a collection of wellbeing-focused content exclusively for Delta customers from Peloton. This is in addition to on-demand Wi-Fi for purchase and free mobile messaging. Meanwhile, during the meal service, customers receive a choice of entrée alongside an appetizer and dessert in addition to a full bar selection or soft drink. Those traveling in Delta One can pre-order their meal. On the ground, eligible customers can also enjoy complimentary lounge access, including to Delta Sky Clubs in the U.S.. Delta’s services from Stockholm are operated in conjunction with Delta’s partners Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic.

Sweden and the U.S. invest more than $94 billion in each other’s economies, according to the U.S. Department of State. Sweden is also the 13th largest investor in the U.S. and one of the largest investors on a per capita basis, investing $61.3 billion and supporting more than 200,000 U.S. jobs.

Delta has maintained safety-focused operations throughout the pandemic and continues to evolve its layers of protection to offer customers a safer travel experience. Delta customers can stay updated on entry details for all countries with the Delta Discover Map as well as its one-stop Travel Planning Center.
