Christmas Markets Draws Tourists to South Sweden

Christmas Markets Draws Tourists to South Sweden

In Skåne there are all sorts of Christmas markets in the most varying places. There is one Christmas market at a zoo, another in an old school building, a third in a Christmas decorated stable and of course at several of the regions beautiful manors Christmas markets will be open.

This year a new Christmas market opens at Jordberga castle, east of Trelleborg, and Glimmingehus at Österlen is resuming the tradition of Christmas preparations at the castle. Kulturen in Lund is dedicating an extra day for Christmas preparations this year - Saturday 4th of December. This day will be specially focused on families with children!

The farmers' own Christmas market at Drottningtorget in Malmö is a market for ecological and conventional products all from local farmers and producers. The vistors can can buy anything from vegetables and fruits, cheeses and breads, beef and mutton, duck and chicken, to handicrafts made from wool and leather.

In Landskrona, Joakim Bengtsson, known from the Swedish television show Antikrundan (Antiques Roadshow), will open up his 18th century house in the city centre for a Christmas market with 40 some vendors. The entire inner courtyard and the deep vaults are decorated for Christmas and not only will there be coffee and cakes, but cups too! Coffee is served in antique, or at least very old, coffee cups that the visitor can bring home after the visit. This has turned into such a huge success that the cups from this called Gamla Kassan Christmas markets have become collector items.
