Cathay Pacific discontinues Vancouver – New York JFK service in late-March 2020

Cathay Pacific in late-Tuesday (10SEP19; Hong Kong time) adjusted inventory system, which sees the closure of Vancouver – New York JFK reservation, a route it has been operating since July 1996 when the oneWorld carrier launched New York JFK service.

Reservation for travel on/after 28MAR20 is now closed. Previously filed summer 2020 schedule as follows.

CX888 YVR2255 – 0700+1JFK 77W D
CX865 JFK2150 – 0050+1YVR 77W D

Cathay Pacific will continue to operate CX888/865 on Hong Kong – Vancouver sector with 777-300ER, however First Class cabin is no longer available for reservation. Existing 3 weekly A350-900XWB CX855/856 service will also be discontinued from 29MAR20, as reservation is closed in late-Tuesday as well. Overall service for Vancouver will be reduced from 17 to 14 weekly.

The oneWorld member launched New York JFK service in July 1996, initially 5 weekly, later increased to 6 from early-August 1996, 7 from late-August 1996 (schedule below).

For Hong Kong – New York JFK route, the airline has temporary closed reservation CX846/845 on selected days of the week for travel on/after 29MAR20, however additional changes will be made for overall New York JFK service in the next few days.
