AERODOM Named as Host of the 4th Routes Americas in 2011
Posted 22/06/2010 - Viewed 323 time(s)
Lima, Peru, 17 February 2010
Routes has announced that the 4th Routes Americas is to be held in the Dominican Republic.
Taking place in February 2011, the number one air service development event for all the
Americas will be hosted by Aerodom Siglo XXI.
Andrew O'Brian, Aerodom's CEO, commented: "For our company it is a tremendous honour
and will be a great pleasure to welcome the air transport community of the Americas to
Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. Hosting the event gives us the
opportunity to showcase our airports and our beautiful destination. We will offer to all
participants the possibility to discover a leading Caribbean destination that today receives
close to nine million travelers a year from more than 20 cities around the world."
Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM) is the private concessionaire commissioned
by the Dominican Government to develop, modernise, operate and manage six international
airports: Las Américas and La Isabela in Santo Domingo; Gregorio Luperón in Puerto Plata;
María Montéz in Barahona; Arroyo Barril and Presidente Juan Bosch in Samaná.
Given its disposition for growth and profitability principles, AERODOM was acquired by
Advent International, one of the leading Private Equity firms in the world. Operating under
strict standards of security, safety and efficiency, AERODOM handles an average of 90,600
aircraft movements and more than four million passengers a year.
The host city Santo Domingo is located just 15 minutes from Las Américas International
Airport. It was founded in 1496 and is known as the 'first city' of the Americas. It is a
fascinating place where the attractions of a modern cosmopolitan city congregate with the
enchantment of the Old World, appreciated in the medieval palaces and fortresses that
remain intact. Beyond its colonial past, the city of Santo Domingo is rich in culture and
artistic expressions reflected in its music, arts, theatres, museums and galleries. This most
ancient city of the New World has been declared as Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by
UNESCO and American Capital of Culture 2010 by the International Bureau of Cultural
Capitals.
Following on from the great success of this year's Routes Americas in Lima, the 2011 forum
promises to attract even more delegates. David Stroud, Deputy CEO of RDG, commented:
"The Dominican Republic is a primary aviation hub for business travellers and tourists alike.
Its central location makes it an important point of interconnection for passengers and
therefore a great location for the number one air service development event in the region. I
am sure that Routes Americas in Santo Domingo will be a spectacular event."
The announcement comes at the end of the 3rd Routes Americas in Lima, Peru. To find out
