The Japan FAM Trip 2026: Building momentum for direct flights to Khanh Hoa
From August 24 to 28, 2026, Cam Ranh International Terminal (CRTC) and its strategic partners successfully hosted an exclusive FAM Trip for a high-level Japanese delegation. This event serves as a strategic stepping stone to reposition the destination, boost trade, and pave the way for a direct aviation network between Japan and Khanh Hoa.
Continuing its market expansion strategy, CRTC and the Khanh Hoa tourism sector welcomed 10 key decision-makers from Japan, including representatives from Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA), Jetstar Japan, Vietnam Airlines (Japan Branch), and premier travel groups such as JTB, HIS, REIWA, and JATM. Shifting focus from transit passengers to establishing direct flights, this inspection trip was meticulously designed to provide our partners with a comprehensive, real-world perspective on the destination's service capabilities.

Throughout the journey, the delegation evaluated Khanh Hoa's diverse tourism ecosystem. The itinerary featured world-class integrated resorts and golf courses in Bai Dai and the Vinpearl complex—perfectly suited for both MICE and FIT segments—as well as cultural landmarks like the Ponagar Cham Towers and Do Theater. Premium wellness services, such as mineral mud baths and Agarwood appreciation, alongside sustainable marine activities like coral planting and Catamaran cruising, proved that Khanh Hoa possesses the depth of resources required to design high-end products that meet the rigorous standards of Japanese travelers.

Beyond the site inspections, the decisive highlight of the program was the Business Matching (B2B) Conference on August 25. Here, representatives from CRTC, local authorities, and aviation and travel enterprises from both nations engaged in highly practical discussions. The dialogue centered on cost analysis, actual passenger demand, financial incentives for new routes, and collaborative mechanisms to maintain operational efficiency. This event successfully established a direct commercial network, resolving technical bottlenecks to prepare for the influx of Japanese tourists to Cam Ranh.

Concluding the itinerary, the delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the operational infrastructure at Cam Ranh International Terminal (T2) and held an in-depth wrap-up meeting with CRTC's leadership. The up-to-date data from the destination and the aviation gateway, combined with the newly established partner network, forms a solid foundation. The close synergy between CRTC and its partners sets a clear path toward realizing the NRT - CXR direct flight, unlocking a steady flow of passengers and driving robust growth for the market in the near future.
