Russian Market Surges Nearly Threefold, Opening a New Chapter for Khanh Hoa Tourism

With nearly 1.2 million Russian and CIS visitors in the first nine months of 2026, Khanh Hoa, with Cam Ranh International Terminal as its gateway, is turning strong momentum into lasting, sustainable growth.

In the first nine months of 2026, Khanh Hoa welcomed nearly 1.2 million visitors from Russia and the CIS, more than 2.5 times the figure for the same period in 2025. This includes 966,118 Russian arrivals, up 2.9 times, and 215,101 visitors from other CIS countries, up 49%, making this the fastest-growing international market for the province. New connectivity is adding to the momentum. The Moscow – Khanh Hoa route, operated by Anex Vietnam together with Vietjet, currently runs three flights a week and is scheduled to rise to five in early 2027. This will lift the operator's Russia – Khanh Hoa network to 28 weekly flights. The operator expects to bring around 316,000 visitors in 2026 and about 378,000 in 2027. Other travel companies are also stepping up promotion and expect to bring roughly 200,000 more guests this year.

Russian and CIS travellers favour long-stay beach holidays, wellness, premium resorts and family travel, along with cultural, culinary and entertainment experiences. Their longer stays and spending across many services improve the performance of the province's accommodation and tourism facilities. The market has real advantages. Khanh Hoa's climate suits the Russian winter-escape season, its infrastructure is increasingly well developed, and the destination has long been familiar to Russian travellers. Air connectivity through Cam Ranh International Airport is being restored and expanded step by step, and visitor safety is well managed. Growth is forecast to continue through the end of 2026 and across 2026–2030. At the same time, the market still relies heavily on charter flights, is sensitive to global economic and political developments, and faces competition from other regional beach destinations. Product quality, service standards and Russian-speaking workforce capacity also have room to improve.

For growth to last, the goal is not only to attract more visitors but to keep them longer and encourage them to spend more. Because most guests arrive on charters, any gap in flights can quickly reduce numbers. Cam Ranh International Terminal will therefore work with airlines and tourism promotion agencies to strengthen Khanh Hoa's presence in Russia and the CIS and to develop more scheduled routes. Alongside this, the industry is refreshing urban spaces, building entertainment products for long-stay guests, tightening oversight of pricing and unlicensed tours, training Russian-speaking staff, extending products beyond central Nha Trang and surveying satisfaction regularly. As the region's air gateway, Cam Ranh International Terminal is committed to giving every guest a safe, smooth and warm welcome from the moment they land.
