Khanh Hoa accelerates green tourism transformation toward sustainable development goals

Aligning with Khanh Hoa's strategic roadmap toward green tourism and net-zero emissions, Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company (CRTC) synchronizes its terminal management and operational workflows to efficiently serve high-spending, eco-conscious international travelers.

Driven by the global shift toward sustainable travel—evidenced by Booking.com's 2025 Sustainable Travel Report where 93% of 32,000 surveyed travelers across 34 countries and territories prioritized eco-friendly choices—Khanh Hoa's hospitality sector is actively advancing its green transition. Pioneering resorts including Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, The Anam Cam Ranh, Ana Mandara Cam Ranh, Champa Island Nha Trang, and Radisson Blu Cam Ranh have invested heavily in renewable energy, eco-friendly materials, closed-loop water recycling, organic gardens, and the elimination of single-use plastics. Notably, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay has met 26–28% of its total energy demand through solar power since 2015 and secured the 2024 HICAP Sustainable Hotel Award. Meanwhile, Ana Mandara Cam Ranh achieved the prestigious Green Globe 2025 certification and, alongside Champa Island Nha Trang, ranked among Vietnam's Top 10 Best Green Hotels at the Vietnam Tourism Awards 2025. Most recently, at the Khanh Hoa Digital Technology Festival 2026, The Anam Cam Ranh, Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang, and Champa Island Nha Trang became the first three properties certified under the provincial Green Tourism Criteria, with Ana Mandara Cam Ranh and Potique Hotel currently finalizing their certification dossiers.

To transition from isolated initiatives to a comprehensive ecosystem across more than 1,400 local accommodation establishments, Khanh Hoa has established a rigorous institutional framework. Under the Green and Sustainable Tourism Development Plan issued in late 2024, the province aims to have 80% of its tourist attractions and hospitality businesses green-labeled by 2030, specifically targeting long-stay, high-spending international segments. In May 2025, with sponsorship from VinUni University, the province introduced two specialized sets of international-standard Green Tourism Criteria for accommodations and attractions, supported by assessment software and training programs for over 200 enterprises. Industry associations and experts are also proposing the expansion of green standards to travel agencies, restaurants, and shopping venues, alongside developing a "Green Khanh Hoa" brand map and prioritizing certified businesses in international famtrips and trade fairs. These initiatives directly realize Politburo Resolution No. 09 (vision to 2045) and the Khanh Hoa Green Transformation Project 2024–2030, positioning the province as a smart, sustainable coastal hub pioneering Vietnam's net-zero emissions target by 2050.
