Khanh Hoa accelerates international market expansion and direct air connectivity toward 2030
Building on nearly 67% international arrival growth in the first 10 months of 2026, Khanh Hoa has rolled out its 2026–2030 International Tourist Market Development Plan, aligning route expansion targets with the infrastructure management and airline partnership initiatives of Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company (CRTC).
Following a strong performance in the first 10 months of 2026 with over 22.5 million total visitors (up nearly 51% year-on-year), including more than 7.8 million international arrivals (up nearly 67%), Khanh Hoa has established an ambitious roadmap to transition from volume growth to quality enhancement. Under the 2026–2030 International Tourist Market Development Plan, the province strives to welcome 33 million visitors by 2030—with international tourists accounting for 40–45%—generating 9 billion USD in total tourism revenue and contributing 20% to provincial GRDP. The strategy targets an average length of stay of 4 to 5 days per visitor and a 1.5- to 2-fold increase in average spending compared to 2025. To diversify source markets and reduce reliance on a few traditional segments, Khanh Hoa prioritizes China, South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Malaysia, and the United States during the 2026–2027 phase, before expanding into high-potential markets across ASEAN, Western Europe, Australia, India, and the Middle East in 2028–2030.

Expanding the international flight network to Cam Ranh International Airport serves as the decisive pillar of this strategy. By 2030 compared to 2025, Khanh Hoa aims to add direct scheduled routes from at least three new countries or territories, increase total international seat capacity by at least 20%, maintain over 80% of new routes beyond their first year of operation, and execute joint destination marketing with at least five international carriers. In 2026–2027, alongside consolidating existing flights to China, South Korea, Russia, Thailand, and Singapore, the province is expanding connections to Tokyo and Osaka (Japan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), and Tashkent (Uzbekistan). For 2028–2030, route development will target Indonesia, the Philippines, secondary cities in key markets, and notably direct scheduled flights operating 2–3 times weekly between Sydney, Melbourne (Australia) and Cam Ranh. Parallel to air connectivity, the tourism sector is tailoring product ecosystems for each segment—ranging from FIT and night-time economy offerings for China, golf and MICE for South Korea, winter-escape long stays for Russia and CIS countries, cultural and wellness retreats for Japan, Halal-certified services for Malaysia and the Middle East, to wedding and MICE tourism for India—while developing commercial centers, walking streets, and night markets in Nha Trang and Phan Rang wards to achieve international satisfaction rates of over 80% by 2027 and 90% by 2030.

Realizing the target of a minimum 20% increase in international seat capacity and sustaining both scheduled and seasonal charter operations requires close coordination between airlines, travel enterprises, and terminal operators. Managing and operating the international passenger terminal, Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company (CRTC) actively collaborates with domestic and international carriers to implement route stimulus programs, optimize slot allocation, and streamline ground handling workflows. Simultaneously, CRTC continues to upgrade terminal commercial spaces, multilingual passenger support, and specialized amenities—including Halal-friendly facilities and premium lounge services—ensuring high-capacity, seamless transit operations that support Khanh Hoa's positioning as a premier international marine tourism hub in Southeast Asia.
