More than 100 employees of Schiphol partners help out in the terminal

The office staff of various Schiphol partners will be rolling up their sleeves to help in the coming period. Office staff from Vanderlande, Microsoft, Cognizant, Aboma, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and also from Main Contractors such as Vanderlande, BAM and Heijmans can be found in the terminal to help travellers where needed and answer questions.

Over the past months, Schiphol office staff have been working hard to help out in the terminal. Because Schiphol wanted to deploy office staff more regularly, the so-called Flamingos were created. The Flamingos are a permanent group of office staff who are assigned to assist with the passenger or baggage process at least once a week in the period from 1 July to 4 September. The partners’ office staff has now joined the Flamingos. All Flamingos receive extensive training beforehand and travellers can recognise them by their bright pink vests. Flamingos without a Schiphol Pass can only work in public areas.

"‘It’s heart-warming to see that large numbers of our partners’ office staff want to help out in the terminal. We are happy to accept that help with both hands. This not only helps travellers but also eases our staff’s workload. We are very grateful.

Patricia Vitalis, Director of Airport Operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.„

Welcome Team

In addition to the Flamingos, the so-called ‘Welcome Team’ has also recently been redeployed. This team has been in existence since 2016 and is a group of more than 30 volunteers between the ages of 33 and 84. Many are retired former airport employees who cannot yet say goodbye to Schiphol. This team is dedicated to welcoming travellers, showing them the way or providing a listening ear.
