Passenger numbers to top half a million at Dublin Airport over Bank Holiday weekend

More than 527,000 passengers are expected to arrive and depart through Dublin Airport over the four-day August Bank Holiday weekend, making it one of the busiest weekends of the summer.

Passenger numbers are expected to exceed 134,000 on Friday, with 129,000 travelling on Saturday. Sunday will be the busiest day of the weekend, with 136,000 passengers forecast to pass through the airport, before a further 128,000 passengers travel on Bank Holiday Monday.

The August Bank Holiday marks one of the final major getaway weekends before the end of the summer holiday season, with strong demand for flights to and from destinations across Europe, North America and beyond.

Dublin Airport is advising passengers to prepare for a busy airport by arriving in good time for their flight and checking directly with their airline for the latest information regarding check-in and boarding times.

Graeme McQueen, spokesperson for Dublin Airport, said: "The August Bank Holiday weekend is always one of the busiest of the year and we’re looking forward to welcoming more than half a million passengers through our terminals over the four day period. Our teams across the airport are ready to ensure passengers enjoy a smooth and efficient journey through the airport."

McQueen added: "While the August Bank Holiday weekend is among the busiest travel periods of the year, Dublin Airport has been successfully welcoming more than 100,000 passengers every day throughout the summer. Indeed, on around 40 days this summer we have welcomed upwards of 120,000 passengers, with 95%+ of departing passengers getting through security screening in 20 minutes or less."
