From January to September 2017, over 25 million passengers have flown from Schönefeld and Tegel. In September, the airberlin crisis had a moderate impact on the traffic figures in Berlin-Tegel Airport. In comparison to previous years, traffic figures, in September, have decreased by 3.7%. In the recent air traffic report, you will find the figures for passengers, aircraft movements and air cargo for September 2017, as well as for the figures accumulated since the start of the year, compared with last year's respective business periods.

Traffic Figures for January until September 2017

  • Passengers: From January until September, 25,954,054 passengers flew from Schönefeld and Tegel. This is an increase of 5.8% compared with the same period of the previous year. In Schönefeld, 9,726,476 passengers took off and landed, which is 14.6% more than in the same time period of 2016. 16,227,578 guests flew from Tegel, 1.1% more than last year.
  • Aircraft movements: The total number of flight movements in Schönefeld and Tegel increased to 215,581 take-offs and landings, an increase of 2.1% in comparison to the previous year. In Schönefeld the number of aircraft movements increased to 76,850. That's an increase of 8.2%. In Tegel there were 138,731 take-offs and landings, that's 1.1% less than in the previous year. 
  • Air cargo: In total, from January to September, 39,949 tonnes of air cargo was registered. This means that there was an increase of 18.4% compared to last year's figures. In Schönefeld, in the first three months, 6,699 tonnes (+1.9%) was delivered, and in Tegel it amounted to 33,250 tonnes (+22.4%).

Traffic Figures September 2017

  • Passengers: In September 2017, 3,200,614 passengers took off and landed in Schönefeld and Tegel airport. That's a reduction of 1.3% compared to last year. 1,168,562 passengers (+3.3%) flew from Schönefeld in September. In Tegel, due to the airberlin crisis, there were only 2,032,052 guests, 3.7% less in total. 
  • Aircraft movements: The number of aircraft movements at Schönefeld and Tegel airports decreased in 2017 to 25,772 take-offs and landings, a reduction of 1.2% compared to September 2016. In Schönefeld, the number of flight movements reduced to 9,104 (-1.6%). In Tegel, the number of flight movements in September decreased to 16,669 (-1.0%).
  • Air cargo: In regards to air cargo, 4,182 tonnes were registered at Schönefeld and Tegel in September 2017, a reduction of 1.5% compared to September 2016. The air cargo in Schönefeld reached 818 tonnes, that’s 4.5% less than September 2016. 3,364 tonnes of air cargo was registered in Tegel (-0.8%).
