Schönefeld growing at a double digit rate compared to 2016

From January to December 2017, over 33 million passengers flew from Schönefeld and Tegel. In the current traffic report you will find the figures for passengers, flights and airfreight for the month of December 2017, as well as cumulatively since the beginning of the year, in each case in comparison to the same period of the previous year.

Traffic figures January to December 2017

  • Passengers: From January to December, 33,326,000 passengers flew from Schönefeld and Tegel; an increase of 1.3% in comparison to the same period of the previous year. 12,865,312 passengers took off and landed from Schönefeld, 10.4% more than in the same period in 2016. 20,460,688 passengers flew from Tegel, 3.7% less than in the same period of the previous year.
  • Flights: In 2017, the number of flights from Schönefeld and Tegel sank to 275,014 take-offs and landings, a decrease of 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flights increased to 101,301, an increase of 4.9%. At Tegel, there were 173,713 take-offs and landings, which is 6.4% less than in the same period of the previous year.
  • Air cargo: In total, 49,291 tonnes of air cargo was recorded from January to December, an increase of 4.9% from the same period of last year. At Schönefeld, 9,234 tonnes of air cargo were handled (+2.6%), and at Tegel 39,997 tons (+5.5%).

Traffic figures December 2017

  • Passengers: In December 2017, 2,158,590 passengers took off and landed at Schönefeld and Tegel airports, a fall of 17.1 % compared to the same month last year. 978,366 passengers flew from Schönefeld in December (-5.3%), while at Tegel there was a total of 1,180,224, 24.8 % fewer passengers than last year.
  • Flights: In December 2017, the number of flights at Schönefeld and Tegel airports dropped to 17,216 take-offs and landings, down 22.3 % from December 2016. At Schönefeld, the number of flights dropped to 7,546 (-6.6%). At Tegel, the number of flights in December dropped to 9,670 (-31.4%).
  • Air cargo: 2,899 tonnes of air cargo was recorded at Schönefeld and Tegel airports in December 2017, down 33.6% from December 2016. Air cargo at Schönefeld reached 829 tonnes, 8.2% more than in December 2016, while at Tegel 2,071 tonnes were recorded (-42.5 %).
