New direct route from Trondheim to Frankfurt

On May 1st, Lufthansa opened its new direct route between Trondheim and Frankfurt. The route will have three weekly departures throughout the year.
The flight is operated by an Airbus 319 with seating for 135 passengers.
– A good and correct route offer to and from Værnes is important for the region's business community. It is absolutely crucial for the competitiveness of companies and organizations to have effective access to Europe. It is therefore gratifying to be able to offer a new direct route to yet another major European hub, says Marit Helene Stigen, Airport Director for Trondheim Airport.
Together with the Trondheim - Munich route, it will provide a much better international route offer for travelers to and from our region.
“The opening of Trondheim and Frankfurt is proof of the great growth that Lufthansa Group has seen in Norway in recent years. And it is especially pleasing that it is happening at a time of geopolitical unrest, when many other routes are being reduced, but also in an anniversary year where Lufthansa is celebrating 100 years,” says Flemming Nordestgaard, General Manager Denmark & Norway at Lufthansa.
Important for Trøndelag as an international travel destination
The new route comes at a perfect time for both business and tourism in Trøndelag.
– Towards the National Jubilee in 2030, we will elevate Trøndelag as an international travel destination built on our unique cultural heritage, from Viking heritage to pilgrimage traditions. There is great interest from Germany, and now it will be easier to experience the city and the region. At the same time, the route opens up for new guests and longer stays, says Petra Sestak-Flagestad, CEO of Trøndelag Reiseliv.
