The Grandest Grand Opening of Wizz Air's New Base Happens at Varna Airport

Colored in summer hues, dynamic and bright in Wizz colors, the opening of the 28th Wizz Air base at Varna Airport took place today. Fraport Twin Star Airport Management organized a spectacular welcoming of the flight from Dortmund (Germany) with a pink water salute and exciting choreography on the apron performed by vibrant, young and smiling dance enthusiasts.
The opening of Wizz Air's new base at Varna Airport is of utmost importance for the development of the local economy, supporting the aviation, transportation and tourism industries. With the deployment of a new Airbus A320 aircraft, Varna Airport becomes the second in Bulgaria, where the airline has an operational base.

The long-term partnership of Varna Airport with Wizz Air will be further strengthened by the six new year-round destinations starting today and allowing more people to get acquainted with Varna and the beautiful Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The plane of the Hungarian carrier increases the number of destinations served by the airline in Varna to eight. New Wizz Air flights link Varna to Dortmund and Munich Memmingen in Germany, Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Larnaca in Cyprus, Milan Bergamo in Italy and Tel Aviv in Israel. The frequency of flights of the popular London Luton line has increased to 10 flights a week. Daily flights to Sofia have also become a reality.

At the press conference at the VIP Arrivals Hall at Varna Airport, Owen Jones, Chief Corporate Officer of Wizz Air and Ulrich Heppe, Chief Executive Officer of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, greeted all guests. During his opening speech, Ulrich Heppe said: „Today, the pinkest, the bluest and the brightest day is a very emotional one for us, as it marks the opening of the 28th Wizz Air base right here at Varna airport and the launch of a total of 8 year-round destinations. It also marks the successful end of a three-year long period of negotiations and meetings with our partners and friends from Wizz Air. Our whole airport team will work hard, to help you to make the base successful and to give you good reason to base even more aircrafts and add new destinations in the near future.”

During the festivities, the guests cut a pink, blue and white ribbon and all were able to enjoy festive cake and refreshing summer cocktails.
