Up to September 2023, Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport surpassed 2019 levels by 8.56% delivering over 1.7 million additional passengers. Athens network of destinations and airlines has returned to pre-pandemic levels with further developments to come in the Winter 2023/2024 and Summer 2024 seasons.


Athens main home based airlines are growing at new highs, resulting to  the enhancement of the Athens hubbing potential. Due to Athens location, home based airlines are strengthening the connecting offering on the East/West and North/South axes, enhancing further the connections available via Athens. Athens also serves as the first entry point to the European Union, European Economic Area and Schengen zone from the East.
