Athens International Airport is the Winner at the ACI Europe 2025 BEST AIRPORT AWARDS - 25-40 million passengers’ category

The awards were announced on June 19 2025 during the Gala Dinner of the 35th ACI Europe Annual Congress and General Assembly, held in Athens and hosted by Athens International Airport.
The ACI Europe Best Airport Awards celebrate airports across Europe for excellence and innovation in operations, sustainability, passenger experience, and more. This year’s theme, “the challenges of growth”, highlights airports that are continuously growing based on dynamic route development and destination marketing strategies and are successfully adapting to increasing traffic and evolving market demands. Athens’ submission was praised by the Judges and was mainly focused on Route development and Tourism activation strategies.
Praised for its resilience and proactive strategies, Athens International Airport was recognized for collaborating closely with aviation and tourism stakeholders to overcome seasonal fluctuations and elevate its global profile. According to ACI Europe, Athens airport is an “unmatched winner” in the “25-40 million passengers” category.
Athens International Airport was also presented with one more distinction during the Gala Dinner: it was recognized as the Highly commended airport for Digital Transformation. The Digital Transformation Award, an initiative of the SESAR Joint Undertaking in collaboration with ACI Europe, recognizes a European airport that has embraced digitalisation, and has adopted innovative technologies and procedures to improve the safety, capacity, efficiency, and environmental footprint of its operations.
