Athens : Thriving October! Growth of International traffic continues in October 2025, with a +6.3% increase vs October 2024 & International share reaching new heights accounting for 72% of total traffic
92% of the total passenger growth in the period January – October 2025, is attributed to the International segment.
Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport increased by 4.0% in October 2025, vs. 2024 with International traffic the main contributor. International traffic in October 2025 increased by 6.3% compared to the same month in 2024. Share of International traffic increased by 1 percentage point reaching 72% from 71% in October 2024.
For October 2025, flights increased by 4.5%, with International flights increasing by 7.6% when compared to same month last year.
In terms of Direct Passenger traffic, all main International markets grew compared to October 2024. Italy maintained its TOP position, with a growth of 5.0% to October 2024. In the TOP20 International markets for Athens in Direct scheduled traffic, Israel achieved the largest growth with 32.6%, followed by Hungary with 25.9% and Spain with 25.2%. Denmark, Albania and Egypt achieved growth rates at over 20% to October last year.
In the Long Haul markets, China achieved the highest growth to October 2024, by 25.8%, followed by US with 5.3% and Canada with 3.1% in direct scheduled services.
For the 10 months of 2025, Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport increased by 6.4% to 2024, resulting in 1.75 mio additional PAX. International traffic is the driver of this growth, with 1.6 mio additional PAX, or 92% contribution to the total growth.
